Big fan of your work. never would have thought youd be on here though.....at any rate i fecking love your style and aspire to get a book of my own published after i get some schooling in and improve a little, or a whole lot, not sure where i need to be. if you get a chance you should look at my drawings and let me know how i could improve them. keep up the good work:)

Hi,

Thanks for the comments.

I checked out your art. Cool stuff. You are on a good track as far as your art. I know it seems lame, but the best thing you can do is to study other types of art styles and learn to draw from life. Learning things like anatomy and how to draw real life things is the best foundation you can create to eventually drawing straight from your imagination.

I was always bored with that stuff in school, but it really is important. Once you know the rules of art and have a mastery of them, you can start to break the rules with a stronger confidence and a better idea of where to improve upon them.

Even standard cartooning books can help to learn "gestures", such as expressions and body movement. The more stuff you can fill your brain with, the broader pallette you have to work with.

Best of luck.

sincerely,
christopher

thanks for the insight! im in a beginning drawing class and my first art class ever. I cant tell you how disapointed i was when it started. Contuor drawing was kicking my ass. At any rate i was thinking about dropping the class because i didnt think it pertained to what i wanted to draw. but now a month into i, my art [ even the cartoony stuff] is steadily improving. Your advice convinces me that knowledge is knowledge and anything I can learn can only aid me. I hope you remember what its like looking from the outside and feeling like your goals are pipedreams and childish. I think the only reason certain people make it isnt because their super human or lucky, I think its because their persistent. At any rate, thanks for being humble enough to look at some random fans art and actually giving a crap. thanks a million bro and god bless.
